Getting out of Rome was not easy - the taxi did not show up, we lugged luggage all over the place, it seemed, but finally got on the train to Viterbo. Took almost 2 hours to get here. We found out after we got off that Chris & family (UK), Peter Ring (DK), and Therese & Kate (Aus) were on the train with us. We all piled into the hotel shuttle w/luggage & made the short trip to the hotel.
The temps are wonderful - we are high in altitude. The hotel is in a beautiful setting. The little town, San Martino al Cimino, is very small but has a 17th century Gothic church at the top of the hill, 40 degree angle walk up to the top. Wed. afternoon we walked to the top & I felt spiritually renewed when I walked into the church. I lit a candle for Danny. The church was built in 1647, as far as I can tell - MDCXXXXVII in the plaque on the floor. It is the typical Gothic architecture with a rose window also.
That evening we had pizza at one of the 2 restaurants in town. Great pizza with a thin crisp crust. Thurs. was a training day - we were in session until 7pm. No time for fun, but maybe some good ideas will flower. Last night's dinner was 2 entrees of pasta, one of fish, one of veggies, then salad and dessert. Not too impressive...
Off to the first day of our official meeting.
Later...
