Italy Day 2

Sept. 30 arrived yesterday but took us forever to get to Hotel Sallustio, which turns out to be just a check in point, then we had to go to the actual rooms around the corner, not far. The room is small, but OK. Great bathroom with a bidet. View from the breakfast room is of a busy street. We are in Rome central. Last night after getting somewhat settled, we went out to find the Trevi Fountain about 20 min. walk from the hotel. The map was very helpful. When we finally found it there were about 300 people around it, taking photos, eating, watching, throwing coins. Even at night it is very impressive. I hope we can go back in daylight to take photos.

I really wanted a glass of wine. All around the Fountain are shops for souvenirs, food and drink. We sat outside the Trevi Bar and I had wine, Patrick had cappicino. Then we went farther and had pizza, then gelato. Back to our rooms by 11pm & we crashed.

Woke up about 7:30 and had a tepid shower. Breakfast in the break room - crossaints, yogurt, coffee, etc. Not bad - a good start.

Now we're looking for the train station to buy tix for the day to get around - want to see the Coliseum today.

Temp is very comfortable, last night was cold.

Signing off for now - Ciao!
